Managing Long-term Writing Projects

Wednesday, Sept. 17th 1-2 pm & Thursday, Sept 18th 5:30-6:30pm

Tackling a long, significant writing project can feel daunting. Set yourself up for success by attending this workshop. Participants will learn about using planning techniques and informal writing practices to sustain and complete a long-term writing project.

Citing Generative AI in Academic Writing

Tuesday, Sept. 30, 11am & Wednesday, Oct. 1, 4pm

As the use of generative AI programs like ChatGPT becomes more common in academic spaces, it’s crucial to understand how to use these tools responsibly and cite them correctly. This workshop will review when and how to credit AI assistance in academic writing based on current citation styles (APA, MLA, etc.) and our university’s guidelines.

Personal statements That Pop!

Whether you’re applying for an internship or grad school, putting yourself out there in a personal statement can be intimidating. This workshop will help you craft a statement that really shines. We will discuss how to “brag” about yourself, what to shout about vs. what to leave out, and more! This workshop will be most helpful to UD undergraduate and graduate students who will soon be completing applications for internships, graduate programs, or scholarships that require a personal statement as part of the application process.

Public Presentation Strategies

Monday, November 10th, 11 am-12 pm & Thursday, November 13th, 2-3 pm

One of the greatest fears in our society is presenting in front of a live audience. While the reasons for this fear vary, there is a consistently effective solution: preparation! Join a panel of Oral Communication Consultants as they discuss presentation preparation strategies, including how to overcome speech anxiety, outline presentation content, and create visual aids, as well as essential delivery tips.
